What does this mean in a knitting pattern?
CAST ON 15… im skipping steps one to three
STEP 4. p3, place 3 st on dpn and hold at front of work, k3, k3 from dpn, k3, p3
So… I purl 3 stitches and put those 3 on double pointed needles? or another set of 3 that havent been purled? then i knit 3, and knit the three from the double pointed needles?
heres the actual pattern if you need reference, I am asking about the strap

thanks
You are cabling!
In this case, you will purl 3 stitches, and then slip the next 3 stitches (stitches 4, 5, and 6) onto the dpn. Hold the dpn in front of your working needle & knit stitches 7, 8, and 9; then knit stitches 4, 5, and 6 off of the other end of the dpn.
Don’t forget to slip purlwise! otherwise you will untwist the stitch & it will look pretty funky.
Good luck!
